HAMMERWOOD PARK: Military airstrip much later private helicopter landing area

Military users: Army Austers of 660 Sqdn November 1943 to May 1944, then it appears Austers of 659 Sqdn from April to June 1944

Location: Just S of the A264, 2.5nm E of East Grinstead
 

Landing area for helicopters: 1998:  Grass area in front of stately home/hotel with ‘H’ and windsock


NOTES:  As can be seen in these two pictures, there is no sign of a helipad being marked out. If anybody can kindly offer advice about this location, this will be much appreciated.
