Hamworthy

HAMWORTHY see also POOLE HARBOUR

HAMWORTHY: Military flying boat base    (Aka HAMWORTHY JUNCTION)

Military Ops: RAF Coastal Command

210 Sqdn  (Consolidated PBY-5 Catalinas)

461 (RAAF - Royal Australian Air Force) Sqdn    (Short Sunderlands)

NOTES: Despite some initial confusion many years ago, I now believe the civil operations and the military flying boat operations in POOLE HARBOUR during WW2 were essentially separate operations. The BOAC operations were at Lilliput on the east side of the harbour. This said, presumably they shared the same ‘Trots’ for take-offs and landings.
