Harris

Note: This map only shows the position of the Isle of Harris within the UK, and it is of course quite a large island. If anybody now knows of the location where Capt. Barclay landed in 1936, this advice will be much appreciated indeed.

HARRIS: Temporary Landing Ground (aka ISLE of HARRIS)

Location: (?)  The Isle of Harris is of course in the Outer Hebrides

NOTES: According to Iain Hutchinson in his book Air Ambulance he maintains that Capt. David Barclay made the first flight to the ‘Isle of Harris’ on the 1st June 1936, flying the Spartan Cruiser G-ACSM for ‘British Airways’, but still trading as Northern and Scottish Airways?
