Hartlepool flying sites

Note: This map only shows the postion of Hartlepool within the UK. For further information about flying sites in this region, please see the entry for WEST HARTLEPOOL.

HARTLEPOOL: Civil aerodrome

NOTES: Used by North Sea Aerial Navigation for their services to HULL commencing May 1919. Does anybody now know which site was used and any further details?

It is very tempting of course to assume this site was GREATHAM / WEST HARTLEPOOL. But was it? In producing this 'Guide' I have been caught out several times, especially in the early days when starting this research some twenty years ago.

HARTLEPOOL: Private airstrip

Location: On a minor road linking the A689 & A19. So presumably NW of Greatham & roughly 3nm SW of Hartlepool?

Period of operation: 1980s only?
