HEREFORD GOLF ACADEMY: Temporary landing ground
NOTES: I have included this site, notified in the AAIB report EW/G2015/07/26, simply to illustrate the vast array of temporary flying sites that have, for all sorts of reasons, been used over the years. This country really does have, without any doubt whatsoever, the richest history of diverse flying sites in the world - getting a huge head-start of course with balloon ascents in the 19th century.
In this case the pilot of a gyroplane, the Rotorsport UK Calidus (G-CLDS), intended to treat a passenger, presumably a friend, to a flight from a "small grass strip, located near to a golf course". Unfortunately things did not go well during the take-off and Delta Sierra crashed - it later being judged as destroyed. Happily both occupants escaped with minor injuries.
We'd love to hear from you, so please scroll down to leave a comment!
