Operated by: Mr Robert Ryle

Model flying:  From 2005?

Location: S of A693, 1nm NW of Chester-Le-Street

Period of operation: 1990 to present day? (some reports say operating in the 1980s)

Runway:   2012:   12/30   550   grass

                2018:   12/30   425   grass

NOTES: Is this where the unique Turner TSW G-BEBO was destroyed in a hangar fire? It was apparently based at PETERLEE in the early 1990s?

It seems that the Piper PA-17 Vagabond G-AWOH (ex F-BFMY) was based here in the early 1990s at least. I have a video made in the early 1990s which shows a visit made by two Crunchie Stearmans apparently on a tour to recruit wing-walkers.

I do tend to bang on a bit, but what a treat to find an airstrip being shared with model flyers. Here once again, any advice and pictures will be much appreciated.
