HODNET: Satellite Landing Ground

Miltary user: 29 SLG (RAF)
 

Location: Roughly 2nm SW of TERN HILL

Period of operation: 1941 to 1945 only?

 

NOTES: Between June 1941 and February 1945 HODNET was a temporary “dumping ground” for thirty-five to forty trainer types, typically Miles Masters and Miles Martinets. It was first used it seems by 24 MU at TERN HILL, then from April 1942 by 37 MU at BURTONWOOD and finally, from July 1942 by 27 MU SHAWBURY.
