HORSEHEATH: Military Landing Ground

Military users: RFC/RAF  (Royal Flying Corps / Royal Air Force

75 [Home Defence] Sqdn   (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c, B.E.2e & F.E.2b types)

192 NTS   (Night) Training Squadron
 

Location: Just E to ENE of Horseheath, N of the A1307, about 3nm WNW of Haverhill town centre

Period of operation: 1916 to 1919

 

Site area: 55 acres        549 x 411

Hi, I do have a hand drawn map showing the Horseheath decoy site and its relationship to Wratting Common if you are interested. I am not 100% certain this was the same location as the WW1 airfield but several references seem to imply that it was.

Horseheath WW1 LG became an airfield decoy site for Duxford in WW2.
