Note:  All four of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©

Location:  Just E/NE of Houghton village, roughly 1.5nm SSW of Stockbridge town centre

Period of operation:  1990s (?) to -

Runway:   03/21   750   grass

Note:  As the 2002 picture appears to show, this runway might well have been prepared with an aggregate base?

NOTES:  For some time I had the fourth picture above listed in my article - 'Sites to be identified'. The main problem being that, on the evidence of this picture alone, the northern third of the runway seemed well defined, as was the southern third - but what about the middle section?

In August 2020 I was kindly contacted by David Day, (based at HENSTRIDGE), who told me that he has regularly flown over the area and that it is indeed an airstrip. Looking at earlier Google Earth images, this then became much more obvious of course. The apparent absence of a hangar seems a tad odd - perhaps just for use by visitors only?

It is very tempting to imagine that this airstrip could well be operated by the owners of nearby MARSH COURT, but long experience has taught me to be very wary of jumping to such conclusions. Many times I have found adjacent airstrips being quite separately operated. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
