Hunday Farm

Note: This map only gives the position of Corbridge within the UK. If anybody can kindly provide a more exact location, this will be most welcome.

HUNDAY FARM: Private airstrip

Location: E of a minor road leading N from the A69, adjacent to the closed Hunday Farm Museum, near Corbridge

Period of operation: 1985 to present day?

Runways:   Originally,  N/S   400   grass     (1985 to 1992)?

I have also found another quite different description;

N/S   180   grass          (4% upslope, land towards N, take-off S)

NOTES: I have a copy of a film made in the early 1990s which shows a Piper Cub landing and taking off from HUNDAY FARM and the landing distance was given as 265 metres. The film shows the approach into the landing area (there didn’t appear to be a ‘strip’ as such) which is bordered by trees on three sides.
