Hurdle Hall Farm

HURDLE HALL FARM:   Temporary aerodrome

Location:  Today on the SE end of BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Operated by:  Sky Devils Air Pageant

Period of operation:  13th May 1934

NOTES:  We have Mike Holder, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for finding this venue, which to date (Sept 2022), I had found no record of. And this, despite having found records of well over 1500 'flying circus' venues in the 1920s and 30s.

EXTRA NOTE
It is only a minor detail, but until looking at the maps above, I had no idea that the A45 had to be re-routed, looping down southwards, to allow the main runway at BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT to be extended. This airport was of course originally called ELMDON and was opened in 1939 to replace the original aerodrome/airport at CASTLE BROMWICH.
