John o Groats

Note: This map only shows the position of John o'Groats village within the UK.

JOHN o’GROATS: Very temporary landing ground

Operated by: Colonel the Master of Semphill

Location: The exact landing site doesn’t appear to be known?

Period of operation: 30th September 1926    (Give or take a day perhaps?)

NOTES: This flight departed from Land’s End, (perhaps from LAND’S END?), and was, without much doubt, the first ever successful point-to-point flight across the longest distance in the UK. Certainly the first recorded it seems. He used the quite famous DH.60 Moth G-EBMO.
