Kelling Heath

Note: This map only gives a rough location within the UK.

KELLING HEATH: Military airstrip/airfield

Location: Alongside and N of the railway it appears. Kelling village is on the A149 about 4nm W of Sheringham

Landing area: 840x 125  (Probably roughly east-west?)

NOTES: It would appear that the only ‘fact’ known to date is that it was built by US engineers, probably for Exercise Dakota prior to the D-Day invasion.

This said, a bit more research reveals quite a lot of information, and controversy, regarding this site. It seems probable that a landing area, (see above), was cleared possibly for use by a large US Army camp nearby for the invasion?

If anything more is now known, this advice will be most welcome.
