Kettering

Note: The geography of this area has changed dramatically since the 1930s, so I could easily be barking up the wrong tree here. The only Wellingborough Road I can find in the vicinity of Kettering today, runs SE from the village of Broughton which is SW of Kettering town centre. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.

KETTERING: Civil aerodrome

Location: Flying Ground, Kettering

Period of operation: 1932 certainly and 1934

NOTES: Venue, (13th July 1932), Alan Cobham’s National Aviation Day UK Display Tour.

The 147th venue for Alan Cobham’s 1934 Tour gives the address as ‘Wellingborough Road, Kettering’. I assume that both venues took place on the same site?

To date I have been unable to trace any information about a Flying Ground in or near to Kettering.
