Kettleness
Note: This map only shows my rough estimate of where this site might have been positioned. Any further advice will be most welcome.
KETTLENESS: Military Landing Ground or possibly Seaplane Base?
Military user: RNAS?
Location: On the coast, in a bay, 5nm WNW to NW of Whitby
Period of operation: 1916
NOTES: This location does seem to strongly suggest a seaplane operation. This said I haven’t found anything “concrete” although I have found several mentions of the site. One theory is that it was an Emergency Landing Ground.
