Military users: RAF    Flying Training Command        51 Group

EFTS (RLG)
 

Location: W of Irvington, SW of Kirkpatrick Fleming villages, 12 nm NW of Carlisle

Period of operation: 1940 to 1945
 

Runways: NW/SE   1097    grass           SW/NE   1097   grass

 

NOTES: A minor aerodrome in late 1944 with just 126 RAF personnel based here.

By comparison though many busy GA aerodromes in the UK today would have less than half this many people employed.
