NOTES:
As 45 MU at KINLOSS dealt mainly with Armstrong-Whitworth Whitleys, Vickers Wellingtons, Handley Page Halifaxes and later Vickers Supermarine Spitfires from April 1940 it seems reasonable to assume it was probably these types stored here? Later delving confirms this was mostly the case, except that Douglas A-20 Havocs were stored here - with no mention of the Halifax.
It now appears that after opening in August 1941, the first arrivals were Spitfires and Whitleys, the Spitfires being stored at nearby Balbair Wood. Seems that the Havocs and Wellingtons arrived from June 1942. It is claimed that in 1943 over 70 aircraft were stored here but numbers dwindled as the much closer SLG at BRACKLA gained favour.
