In May 2018 I was kindly contacted by Steven Owen, who sent me these pictures.

Location: SE of Livingstone, roughly 5nm SW of Edinburgh airport (TURNHOUSE)

Period of operation: 1998 to -

Runway: (2017)    07/25   540   grass

NOTES: This airstrip is interesting in the respect that, when looked at on Google Earth, the runway appears to be much longer. As Steven advised me, it is PPR, and for this reason alone, as I have always believed, getting a good breifing beforehand really is essential.

The runway used to be 1000mtrs long, it has been reduced to about 550mtrs with a fairly high mudbank on the 07 Threshold. There is also a wind turbine in the adjacent fields that is very close to the approach of 25 / climb out on 07 Very rarely used now as only one microlight based there.

Visited here many years ago when it was run by a Military Gentleman and made to feel really welcome so a few years back I revisited and was greeted by a very unwelcoming person who said that he was the new operator and was extremely rude to me.Can't recall exactly what his microlight was but it was black in colour. With Strathaven and East Fortune within a shortish flying distance I would now give this place a miss as it has a tiny polytunnel hangar where a purpose built hangar was before so nothing there if you wanted a stop over. Not somewhere I will be going back to ever.
