Lee-on-Solent Foreshore

Note: This map only shows a rough position within the UK, the actual site used could have been some distance away. If anybody today knows of the site used, and could be kind enough to advise me, this will be much appreciated.

LEE-on-SOLENT FORESHORE: Temporary aerodrome

Operated by: Sir Alan Cobham’s 1935 National Aviation Day, No.1 Tour

Location: Presumably on the coast in Lee-on-the-Solent, a town which is roughly 3nm WNW of Gosport.

Period of operation: 1st September 1935

NOTES: This location is not in any way associated with the military aerodromes of LEE-on-SOLENT and GOSPORT. Or indeed the HM Naval Seaplane Training School. It was quite common for the 'Flying Circus' operators of the 1920s and 30s to arrange for their displays to be held away from established airfields.
