Note: These two pictures were kindly sent by John Sargent.

Operated by: Originally Mr Bob Pattenden, later the Linton Federation
Note: The Linton Federation, which comprises ten pilots who share the running costs, took over operational control in May 2017.

Location: S of Linton village, W of the A229, NW of the A229 and B2079 junction and about 3nm S of Maidstone town centre

Period of operation: (?) 1990s to -

Runway: 11/29   350   grass

NOTES: I have found it very interesting indeed to become in effect a detective quite often, piecing together snippets of information gleaned over many years in some cases. This airstrip would be a good example and it wasn't until late 2015 that I thought I'd found it - "thought" being the operative word. It would be much appreciated if the location given could be confirmed.

The first mention I found of this airstrip gave a location which proved to be wildly incorrect and  the approximate location of LINTON came about in 2011 with an AAIB report EW/G2011/05/04 which stated that LINTON was near Maidstone. A quick check of the map verified this. A later AAIB report confirmed that LINTON was still operational in 2015.

Today (2018) further information can be found at:   www.lintonairfield.co.uk

The airfield is still in operation (Dec '17) used by Microlights, Paragliders, etc. Location is 250m of Staplehurst Road / Entrance 200m N. of the Stilebridge Pub ... so that's handy ! Nearest postcode TN12 9BH Lat 51.205590, Long 0.502685, Elvtm. 15m asl
