Little Atherfield Farm

Note: Several years ago I made this comment. "This map only gives a rough position within the UK. A good look at Google Earth for example shows no obvious airstrip in this locality, but several suitable sites. If anybody could kindly offer advice about this, it will be much appreciated."

In March 2020 my very good friend Karel Adams came up trumps, with an exact location, corroborated from other sources. Must admit, I would never have found it otherwise.

Note:  All four of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©

Location: Just E of Little Atherfield, about 6nm WNW of Ventnor and 6nm SSW to SW of Newport

Period of operation: 2000s only? Possibly after 2010?

Runway:  07/25   290   grass

NOTES: My initial info source was the AAIB report EW/G2005/11/19. Presumably only used by microlights.

If anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.

Mr Graham Frost, (in 2022), a great friend of this 'Guide' tells us that the X-Air 133(1), G-CBAH was based here. Records show it was, from 04.07.2001 until 29.09.2010.
