Llandudno

Note: This map only shows the position of Llandudno town within the UK. Once again, if anybody can kindly provide more advice regarding flying acitivities in the vicinity, this will be much appreciated.

LLANDUDNO:  Temporary beach aerodrome

Operated by:  Manchester Airways

Mike Holder, a great friend of this 'Guide', discovered this article, published in the North Wales Weekly News on the 24th May 1923. Seems to suggest they previously, for two years, were using an airfield nearby?

Location: ?    In or near to Llandudno town obviously, but did they use the beach to the east of the town, or possibly Conwy Sands? The beach in the town centre appears entirely unsuitable unless of course it was fitted with floats, as so many were in that era.

Period of operation:  1923 only?

NOTES: This information came from an article in November 2016 edition of Light Aviation magazine regarding the fabulous restoration of the Avro 504K G-EBHB which now graces our skies once more. It appears from this article that being a late example it escaped military service during WW1 and eventually earnt its living giving joy-rides with Manchester Aviation.
