Locks Common

LOCK’S COMMON: Temporary aerodrome?  (Aka REST BAY and PORTHCAWL)

Operated by: Berkshire Aviation Co 1920 Tour, Jubilee Air Displays 1935 Tour, 1936 British Empire Air Display Tour

Location: Near Porthcawl

Period of operation: 1920 to 1936?

NOTES: ‘Flying circus’ venues only, or perhaps a more permanent aerodrome?

It seems the Berkshire Aviation Co operated here from the 10th to 14th July 1920. Then the Jubilee Air Displays Tour on the 9th June 1935, and after the British Empire Air Display Tour on the 26th July 1936. But, it has to be asked, did they all use exactly the same site?

Further investigation reveals that LOCK'S COMMON and REST BAY were indeed the same location. It has taken ages to sort this out, (so far!), so do please refer to my listings for REST BAY and PORTHCAWL for more information.
