NOTES: Also the venue for balloon meets such as on the 13th to 15th September 2002

In November 2022 I was kindly contacted by Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide' who remembers going to an airshow held here on the 4th July 1970. The location for this event was just north of the B3000. The main attraction were the Tiger Club, but being based at REDHILL, which is relatively close, perhaps they didn't land?

Pleasure flights were being conducted by the Cessna 337A Super Skymaster G-ATPU, operated at that time by Brymon Aviation based at FAIROAKS. My first picture above shows the approximate position of the runway, which, with a maximum run of 540 metres, was quite adequate.

Another feature, possibly the first at that time, was a balloon race which involved the Omega 0.65 HAFB, G-AXWB, and the Cameron 0.84 HAFB, G-AYAM. A third balloon took place, but showing no registration. Also seen on the ground was the Druine D.62B Condor, G-AXGY.
