Low Moresby

Note: This map only shows the position of Low Moresby village within the UK.

LOW MORESBY: Temporary landing site

NOTES: Situated E of the A595 about 2nm NE of Whitehaven town centre, Samuel F Cody landed near here on the Daily Mail  ‘Circuit of Britain’ contest in 1911. A most extraordinary undertaking at that time.

Wherever an aeroplane landed in those days a substantial crowd invariably soon appeared, and, usually a photographer too. So - perhaps a local historian may well have some advice on the subject?
