LYME REGIS: Temporary aerodrome?
NOTES: On the 31st August 1933 Sir Alan Cobham’s No.2 Tour displayed in/near Lyme Regis. As Lyme Regis is just inside Dorset today, (but was it then?), presumably the site used might have been in Devon? Is it just possible they used the site reputed to have been used by Mr Hansford listed below?
Cobham’s 1934 Tour returned to Lyme Regis displaying on the 10th August. On the 19th August 1935 Cobham’s No.1 Tour returned to display in/near Lyme Regis. Is it safe to assume they used the same site for each of these visits? Any advice will be most welcome.
LYME REGIS: Private airstrip?
Operated by: Mr H W B Hansford?
Period of operation: 1920s only?
NOTES: Any additional information will be much appreciated.
LYME REGIS: Airshow venue
NOTES: In the spirit of listing flying sites in the widest sense of the term I know for a fact that the Red Arrows have displayed at least once here. Indeed many coastal towns have hosted, and still host of course, full scale air displays, some on a regular annual basis.
