Maltings Farm

MALTINGS FARM: Private airstrip

Location: Between the A12 (Colchester by-pass) & A604, (now the A1124?), W of Colchester in the suburb of Lexden

Period of operation: 1980s only?

NOTES: If you look at Maltings Farm on Google Earth today it seems hard to believe there could have been an airstrip here. As in so many other locations listed in this 'Guide', yet another example of the colossal amount of development that has taken place, especially since the 1980s, as regional towns have expanded.
