On 30 May 1933 Sir Alan Cobham's National Aviation Display took place just south of Melksham at Outmarsh Farm - 51 21 07"N 002 08 48"W - on the SW side of the junction of the A350 (Semington Road) and the GWR railway line. The site was described as the large field - probably the one to the east of the road. There is a station - Halt actually - next to the farm.
