Micheldever

Note: This map only shows the location of Micheldever village. I good look around the area on Google Earth in 2016 (image date 2008) did not reveal an obvious airstrip as such, although several potential landing sites were clearly evident.

MICHELDEVER: Private airstrip

Location: In/near Micheldever which is W of the A33 and M3 and roughly 6nm NNE of Winchester city centre and about 4nm SSW of POPHAM

NOTES: It appears this is another airstrip not to be confused with ROUNDWOOD FARM and whilst in this area, so to speak, it seems a ‘dummy’ airfield was laid out near Micheldever during WW2 to act as a decoy for WORTHY DOWN.

Is anything more known about this airstrip?

A CLUE PERHAPS?
In 2022, Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', pointed out to me that the DHC.1 Chipmunk 22A, G-AOSK (ex WB726), was registered to Mr Hugh J Lappin with the address: The Pines, Stockbridge Road, Micheldever Station. It was only registered to him from 24.01.33 until 09.10.73. So, was it actually based here or nearby?
