NOTES: It appears that Henri Salmet, sponsored by the Daily Mail, gave a display of flying here on the 12th August 1912. These displays, (also by other then famous aviators such as Gustav Hamel), or exhibitions of flying were immensely popular, to the extent that, if occurring on weekdays very often a public holiday was declared. 

Location:  Just W of the A226, about 1nm SSE to SE of Gravesend town centre
