Location: Just NW of Mullaghglass, between the A28 and B133, about 4nm NNW to NW of Newry town centre

Period of operation: From 2009 (?) to –


Runway: 06/24    400    grass

 

NOTES: Some time ago I made this note: "It appeared in 2010 that a hangar had yet to be built so presumably nothing was actually based here at that time?" The 2015 picture above shows the foundation for the hangar being laid.

It then appears that by 2017 at least, the Aeronca Champ G-OTOE was based here?

In August 2020, looking at three seperate maps, it appears that even the locals cannot agree on the correct spelling for this vicinity. You will notice that I place this site in County Armagh - which it is. However, if you Google Newry you will find it listed in "Newry, Mourne and Down", which is a purely administrative area created in 2015. These do not replace the County, only an Act of Parliament can change those.

As always in this 'Guide', if anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
