Location:  Just S of Piddington village, 5nm SE of Northampton town centre

Period of operation:  Spring 2015 to -

Runway:  09/27   540   grass

NOTES:  I have Karel Adams, a great friend of this 'Guide' to thank for pointing out this airstrip.

The first picture (2017) appears to show the runway still being laid out? Apparently intended for use by microlights, extra information can be obtained on the inter-web.

With so many GA airfields being closed or under threat of closure, it is so nice to see a new airstrip being opened up. This said, and as mentioned many times elsewhere in this 'Guide' it would appear that the future of GA does lay mainly with the microlight community as the costs of flying traditional GA types continues to soar.

Gliding of course seems to remain as popular as ever, and the popularity of hang-gliding, para-gliding and para-motors appears to be attracting even more fliers. None of these are any good for touring of course, but the latest microlights can often be capable of very long journeys.

MORE GOOD NEWS

In September 2021 I was kindly contacted by Courtney Chambers who operates the airfield and has/had a XAir Falcon based here. Although PPR visitors are usually welcomed. There are no landing fees and Fly-Ins have been held and will continue to be held. Courtney made it clear that he wants to promote leisure aviation in all its forms for enthusiasts both young and old.

It is so refreshing to come across such an enlightened attitude, which of course is quite opposite to so many GA aerodromes where the first thing you are likely to see are signs saying 'Private' and 'Keep Out'.

A video of a Fly-In on the 12th August 2020 can be seen:  https://youtu.be/axmcAmV_CqU
