New Holland

Note: This map only gives a rough location within the UK. If anybody can kindly provide a more exact position for this airfield, this advice will be most welcome.

NEW HOLLAND: Military Landing Ground

Military users: RFC/RAF

33 [Home Defence] Sqdn   (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2s & F.E.2s. Later replaced by Bristol F.2 Fighters in June 1918 it seems, but then equipped by Night Fighter Avro 504s in August). Can this be correct?

Note: It is not at all certain that the latter two types used this airfield.

Location: In/near New Holland on the B1206, just S of the River Humber, roughly 3 to 4nm E of the Humber Bridge

Period of operation: 1916 to 1919

Site area: 85 acres      640 x 503

NOTES: Apparently used only as a Night Landing Ground by 33 Sqdn. Quite a generous large area compared to other 'Night Landing' Grounds in WW.1.
