New Milton flying sites

Note:  This map shows the location of GORE FARM

NEW MILTON see also CHEWTON GLEN HOTEL

NEW MILTON: Private airstrip

Note:   See seperate entry for GORE FARM

Location: In/near New Milton which is between the B3053 to the N and A337 to the S and W of the B3058 roughly 5nm E to ENE of Christchurch

NOTES: In the mid 1970s it seems two aircraft were based here; D.H.87B Hornet Moth G-ADKM and Jodel D.119 G-ATJN. Only after gleaning this information did I discover from the Hampshire Aviation web site that the strip was probably situated on GORE FARM and originally operational from 1964 to 1986.

It seems the site was reopened very briefly in 1998 but an intriguing comment on the same web-site says the last aircraft left by road in 2002. Why? For anybody interested in the aviation history of this region the Hampshire Aviation web-site contains a vast fund of valuable information and is well worth a visit.
