NEWNHAM:   Private airstrip     (Aka NEWNHAM GROUNDS)

Location: N of the B4037, just NE of Newnham village, about 1.5nm SE of Daventry town centre

Period of operation:  1990s (?) to -


Runway:  10/28   400   grass

Note:  The 2004 picture above shows another pre-existing runway:   05/23   265   grass


NOTES:   It is of course rather tempting to imagine that the 1930s airstrip might well have been on this location, but experience has taught me to be very wary of jumping to such conclusions. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.

In answer to your question on the Newnham airstrip, the current site is indeed on the the same location as the original 1930s airstrip and the original hangars are still in use. I have detailed more historical information on the Newnham Grounds entry itself.
