North End

Note:  This map only gives a rough idea of the location.

NORTH END: Early experimental gliding site

Operated by: Mr E H Eggleton

Location: Presumably from the hills to the S or SE of EASTLEIGH?

Period of operation: In the years preceeding WW1

NOTES: It seems that in the years just prior to WW1 Mr Eggleton built eleven gliders and tested them here presumably with some success as he survived long enough to build so many.
