The first picture was obtained from Google Earth ©. The local area and area views are from my Google Earth © derived database.

Location: Just E of Northowram, about 1.75nm ENE of Halifax town centre

Landing runs:  17/35   350   grass        09/27   370   grass          04/22   370    grass

Note:  These landing runs are just my estimation based on the 2002 picture above. The situation may well have been very different back in the 1960s/70s, and it does appear this was indeed the case.

NOTES: It appears that the Auster J/1N Alpha, G-AGYM, was based here belonging to a group of owners from 14.08.70 until 14.11.72. It is reported that it crashed here (?), being written off. Anyway, it was declared WFU (Withdrawn From Use) 14.11.72.

When I first made this listing I really had no idea where this location was. In 2024 Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', provided an exact location. And, he tells us, the Jodel D117 G-AWFW (ex PH-VRE), was based here. A look at the G-INFO website indicates this would have been from April 1968 until June 1970.

I suspect at least one other aircraft was also based here? If anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.
