Note: Pictures by the author. The third picture shows, from the front. the Ikarus C-42 Comco Cyclone G-CIDS, the Jabiru SP-470 G-JBSP and last but not least the DH.82A Tiger Moth G-BYLB based at OLD BUCKENHAM. As it happens I had quite a lot of involvement with this aeroplane during its restoration, transporting it mostly in parts. The fourth picture (2017) was obtained from Google Earth ©

Runways: 1990: N/S   500x20   grass

2000: 18/36   493x23   grass

2007 (new site) 15/33   385x20   grass           04/22   615x25   grass

NOTES: The notes in a 1990 Flight Guide make for interesting reading. The advice to visiting pilots says to watch out for crop sprayers and also microlights at weekends. At that time extensive pleasure flying was planned as was an additional runway.

On the 13th October 2011, having overcome four years of objections, permanent planning permission for the new airfield on Winspurs Farm was approved. I noted with interest that model flying also takes place at the new site. This is quite unusual in the UK although the French seem to see no conflict of interest. Indeed when landing at Arcachon a few years ago during our August Bank Holiday period, they had model flying and parachuting also taking place.
