Northwick Park

Note: This map only shows my estimation of where this gliding site was. In those days the huge hospital did not exist of course - if I have the location correct? If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be very welcome.

NORTHWICK PARK: Gliding site

Period of operation: Early WW2 only?

Location: To the W of the Bakerloo “tube” railway line, probably S of the A4006 Kenton Road

NOTES: It is said that twin-engined types occasionally landed here, perhaps Cessna Bobcats or Airspeed Oxfords from nearby NORTHOLT?

HARD TO BELIEVE?
When I first came across evidence of this site, my first reaction was to dismiss it. A gliding site, in NW London during WW2 - this surely had to be utter nonsense. But it seems, it did keep going for a while. Even in a major war, most people do like to try and preserve what they value.

If anybody can add more to this, such advice will be most welcome.
