Location: S of A303, W of A360, NE of Berwick St James village, 7nm NNW of Salisbury

Period of operation: 1941 to 1946

 

Runways: NE/SW   1463   grass           E/W   1097   grass
                 N/S   1280   grass

 

NOTES: In 1944 it is said that a USAAF operated Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was stationed here to perform high speed mail duties. Presumably in the run-up to D-Day.

It seems that late in 1944 only 195 RAF personnel were based here.
