Old Chapel Farm

OLD CHAPEL FARM: Private airstrip    (Aka WHITTLESEY)

Local area view
Local area view

Note:  This picture is from my Google Earth © derived database.

Location: Just E to NE of Eldernell, E of Whittlesey on the A605 and about 5nm E of Peterborough city centre

Period of operation: 1966 to 1989

NOTES: In my first listing for this location, originally named as WHITTLESEY, I made this comment: "In the mid 1970s it appears one aircraft was based here; the Auster J/5R Alpine G-AOGV registered to A B H Aviation."  And, only had a vague idea regarding its location.

With many thanks to Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', more information has been found. Not least by him advising me to inspect info on G-INFO, and providing the likely location advice. It now appears that G-AOGV was registered to A B H Aviation on the 21st April 1966 and stayed with them until the 3rd April 1989, when it reverted to sole ownership by Mr Rex E Heading, one of the original owners involved with A B H Aviation.

But, (and isn't there often a "But"), we do not have 'cast iron' proof of an airstrip at OLD CHAPEL FARM. Might seem more than likely, verging on obvious perhaps, but experience has taught us to be wary. If anybody can kindly offer advice this will be very welcome.
