Old Football Ground
OLD FOOTBALL GROUND: Temporary Landing Ground
Henri Salmet, the then very famous French aviator, sponsored by the Daily Mail, had been having a rough time due the English summer weather in August 1912. Quite typical of course for that time of year in the UK. Traditionally being holiday time for the working classes! However, he braved the elements eventually to fly here from Southampton, a quite considerable flight in itself for that period.
Location: Just E of the B4087 and south of Royal Leamington Spa town centre
Period of operation: 24th to 27th August 1912
