Old Leake

Note: I have had a pretty good search around this area on Google Earth but cannot find convincing evidemce of where this airfield might be. Advice is very welcome.

So, this map only shows the location of Old Leake village within the UK, with a guess as to where this private airfield was located.

OLD LEAKE: Private airfield    (Also known as TOFTHOUSE FARM)

Operator: 1990: Mr J W Grant
1992: Mr W E Grant

Location: On Tofthouse Farm, 1nm NE of Old Leake near Boston

Period of operation: 1970s to 1990s only?

Runways: 1992: 08/26   440x40   grass           16/34   40x40   grass

NOTES: Unusually the two runways do not bisect each other although they are close to each other.

In the mid 1970s it appears only one aircraft was based here; the Cessna 182K G-AVDA registered to Mr J W Grant. It is certainly my opinion having flown a few examples of the Cessna 182 that this type is probably the most underated of the more powerful single-engine average GA ‘Spam Can’ types. Nothing Piper, Beech or Mooney produced can get anywhere near the wide-ranging capabilities of this aircraft type. Just look at the shorter of the grass runway options used here.
