Old Park Farm

OLD PARK FARM: Private airstrip    (Aka MARGAM and NEATH)

Note: This picture (2018) was obtained from Google Earth ©

Location: In/near Margam which is roughly 1.5nm SE of Port Talbot

Runway: 18/36   345   grass

Note: In 2018 Google Earth showed two runways:  18/36   340   grass          12/30   310   grass

NOTES:
In 2004 Mr John Price flow the Jodel D120 G-BHPS into the PFA Rally, booking in from NEATH. Without too much doubt, it was this airfield he departed from?

Info source AAIB report EW/G2010/04/26. Today this area of GLAMORGAN is now in the ‘County’ of NEATH PORT TALBOT

It is believed the Jodel D117 G-AWVB was based here for many years? It is possible the Zenair CH 601UL Zodiac G-CDAK was also based here in 2013, (see AAIB report EW/G2013/09/14). On a similar tack, (see AAIB report EW/G2015/06/25), perhaps the Skyranger 912(2), G-JBUL, was also based here?

Another AAIB report, EW/G2015/10/09 concerns the Pegasus Quik G-CWVY. And, yet another AAIB report, EW/G2017/06/21 concerns an accident with the Pegasus Quik G-CGLW. Pilots flying this type of flex-wing microlight don't seem to be having a lot of luck operating from this strip. Is there a reason?

On a happier note a short video of the Skyranger Swift 912S(1), G-HODR, flying from this location can be seen on:  https://youtu.be/Or7WcIWsSCc
