Osbaston

OSBASTON:  Private airstrip   (Aka LODGE FARM)

Note:  As Lodge Farms, along with Manor Farms abound in England, I have decided to keep this listing as OSBASTON.

Location:  Just W of Osbaston village, about 6.5nm N of Hinkley town centre and roughly 10nm W of Leicester city centre

Period of operation:  Perhaps initially around the early 2000s when the 08/26 runway appears

Runway:   08/26   340   grass

NOTES:  Of all the hundreds of airstrips I have looked at over the last twenty years from 2020, I don't think I have come across any other quite like this. There is clear evidence of the strip existing in the early 20th century, but the later development is probably unique, with a very long dog-legged taxyway to what might now be the hangar?

Looking at the pictures, could it be that the northern part of the taxyway (15/33  150), in later years, might be used when a very brisk wind is blowing from the north or south? Just an idea of mine. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated.
