BREAKING NEWS
In 2024, Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', discovered this information, plus he seems to recall seeing an advert for an air display being held here in the 1950s. The first item he has found is a mention in the Aeromodeller, published in August 1945. This refers to the EATON BRAY MODEL SPORTSDROME becoming available for use, on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10.00am to 9pm from the 15th September. Full facilities becoming available in 1946.
Then he discovered an accident report dated 31st August 1947, of the de Havilland DH80 Puss Moth, G-BYP, owned by Miss Joan E Naylor trading as Naylor Air Services, having a very serious accident here which wrote off her aircraft, fortunately with her and her passenger both surviving.
Clearly I may well be mistaken (?), but even so would be given to thinking that these reports amount to it being the same location as the later airfield in the 1970s? If anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.
