Plas-yn-Grove

PLAS-YN-GROVE:     Private airstrip and airfield       (Aka DUDLESTON)

Note:  In this 'Guide', by way of definition, an airstrip is just that - singular. Private locations such as this example, with two or more runways, are referred to as airfields. Somewhat unusually as in this case, over a period of time, both definitions apply.

Location:  1.75nm NW of Ellesmere town centre on the A495, about 7.5nm NE of Oswestry town centre

Period of operation:  Unknown?  Perhaps 1990s(?) to -

Runway(s):  Up to around 2006 - 2009(?):    16/34   390   grass

From 2010:   16/34   510   grass            02/20   330   grass

Note:  It appears that runway 16/34 may have been extended, for a while, to 560 metres?

NOTES:  As always in this 'Guide', if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be most welcome. Pictures are always appreciated.

In October 2023 Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', informed me that the Aviat A-1B Husky, G-HSKI, has been based here from July 2006.
