Queenborough

Note: This map gives only my guess as to the position within the UK. I chose it because it seems the best place, (judging from modern maps), for a safe haven. If anybody could kindly confirm this is correct, or if not, provide a more exact location, this advice will be much appreciated.

QUEENBOROUGH: Civil operated seaplane slipways

User: Short Bros

Location: About, and very roughly, 1nm SSW of Sheerness town centre?

Period of operation: 1917 only it seems?

NOTES:  It appears that aircraft from the Short Bros factories in the Medway area were transported here by barge for final assembly and flight testing. This being simply because their existing slipways were struggling to cope with the demand for seaplanes.

A relative born in 1903, in Queenborough, recalled as a child, a factory somewhere around the end of Stanley Avenue (or one of the roads that run parallel), which made canvas aircraft wings. Does anyone have any information on this?
