Rhydorddwy Fawr

Note: This map only gives a rough location within the UK, although it may well be correct of course. If anybody can kindly offer avice on this, it will be most welcome.

 RHYDORDDWY FAWR: Temporary aerodrome

Operated by: Alan Cobham’s 1933 No.2 National Aviation Day tour of the UK

Location: Between Rhyl and Dyserth, just SE of Rhydorddwy Fawr

Period of operation: 12th September 1933

Runways: Basically a ‘all-over’ grass rectangular site orientated NW/SE and roughly 594 metres long and 228 to 274 metres wide

NOTES: This site was described at one point in the early 1930s as being; “The only landing ground available to air pilots in North Wales” so presumably this hints at it being used by others?
