Operated by:  Mr Frank Morrell

Location:  Just NW of RAF FIRBECK, about 8nm SSW of Doncaster city centre and roughly 12nm ENE of Sheffield city centre

Period of operation:  1954 to 1958

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for finding this location. From 19.02.54 to 19.04.58, Mr Frank Morrell had the de Havilland DH82A Tiger Moth, G-ANOF (ex NL780), registered to this address. We are assuming he had it based here (?), and the aerial picture above indicates an area quite suitable for operating a Tiger Moth from.

But, is this correct? Was, for example, a strip laid out in a nearby field? Was the aircraft actually based elsewhere? Were just occassional visits made? If anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be most welcome.
